01

Name the role in the subject

Use the advertised role and include a reference number if supplied. For a speculative application, state your field clearly. Check that the recipient is an appropriate application contact published by the company.

02

Write two company-specific sentences

Explain why you want this role and how your experience meets a requirement. Avoid generic praise. Start with a subject such as “Bewerbung als [Position]” and a real example of your work; replace placeholders with your own information.

03

Attachments and final review

Attach your CV and select other documents according to the listing. Review subject, greeting, company name and recipient. Edit the IsteGit draft and approve the recipient, message and attachments before sending from your Gmail.

04

A short German message structure

A subject can follow “Bewerbung als [Position] – [Referenznummer]”; omit the reference if none exists. Open with an appropriate greeting, state the role, give one relevant experience example and mention the attached CV. End with “Mit freundlichen Grüßen”, your name and contact details. Replace placeholders with actual information and personalise the text for the company.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Apply it to your preparation.

  • The subject clearly identifies the target role.
  • Company name, greeting and recipient address are checked.
  • Experience claims match the CV and the right attachments are selected.

Now work on your application.
